SCBA Life Members makes a clarion call

An overwhelming response marked the first meeting of Supreme Court Bar Association life members, yesterday at Foreign Correspondents' Club of South Asia.

The initiative was led by leading Advocates of India practising at the apex court.
The convenor of the meeting Dr Ajay Kummar Pandey Advocate Supreme Court of India said that it took me over 2 months to organise this first meeting.

Advocate Bharat Singh Jamwal, who traveled all the way from Jammu for this meeting submitted the list of current life members of SCBA.The current strength of life members are 415.

Advocate Sushant Kumar Mallik, an Immigration Lawyer, traveled all the way from Spain to attend this meeting.

The members present at the meeting included lady members, AORs & general members of SCBA including Life Members.

The members who were present & deliberated in this historical meeting included Prakhar Srivastava, Member SCBA, Indu Kaul, Life & Lady Member, SCBA Jasbir Singh Malik, AOR and Life Member, SCBA and Ram Vijay Kumar, senior Life Member, SCBA.

The others who attended the meeting included Bharat Singh Jamaal, Senior Life Member, SCBA, Sanjaya Krishna, Life Member, SCBA, Brijesh Kumar Gupta, AOR and Life Member, SCBA, Susant Kumar Mallik, Life Member SCBA, A N Purushotham, Life Member, SCBA and Abhigya Kushwah, AOR and Life Member, SCBA.

Members deliberated on various issues ranging from raising the prestige, power and acceptability of the body of Life Members in day to day functioning of administration of Justice.

They lamented on present state of affairs of being left out and not being heard in the entire process.

It was also decided to encourage life members to come forward to contribute to its cause.

It was also decided that hence forth the present body of SCBA Life Members will have a distinct identity of their own and will be known as, "SCBA Life Members Forum."

The forum will be a networking platform and work for various cause for the welfare, rights and education of its members.

It will take all steps to meet and invite dignitaries like President of India, Chief Justice of India and other stake holders of legal system.

Members were in total agreement that so far SCBA Life Members have not been accorded their rightful place.

They also lamented on being denied the right to vote in SCBA election especially to senior members above 60 years of age.

It was unanimously decided that the forum will work for the rights to be recognized, respected, being heard and allowed to be participate in the affairs of Supreme Court.

It will also actively contribute in running of entire system of administrating Justice and various judicial reforms.

It was stressed that SCBA Life Members are only permanent body of prominent Advocates of the country functioning from the apex court.

The meeting was a positive step towards ensuring the rights and due recognition of the SCBA Life Members. #supremecourtofindia #law #lawyer
