Is Cambridge Dictionary wrong ? What the use of word F*** Off means?

A Delhi Court recently observed that the word F*** Off is a sexually coloured remark. Addnl. Sessions Judge Sanjay Sharma made this observation while upholding the charges of sexual harassment against who man who allegedly threatened and abused a woman in 2019.

The court passed the judgement in an appeal filed against the framing of charges against the accused.

The complainant in her statement u.s 164 CrPC stated that in May 2019, the accused and other persons entered her house, and threatened to throw her and her family out. She further alleged that the accused called her bazaru aurat and told her to F*** Off.

After the Mahila Court framed charges u.s 354A, 509 and 506 of IPC against him, the accused moved the Sessions Court against the framing of charges.

Before the court, the accused’s counsel submitted that the accused did not utter anything and neither did he threaten the complainant. Significantly, the counsel submitted that the accused had not made any sexually coloured remarks and he had stated the word just to ask the woman to leave.

Significantly, the counsel referred to the Cambridge dictionary as per which the meaning of the slang F*** Off is to leave or go away, especially in a rude manner.

However, the court did not agree with the accused’s contention and observed that the word is an offensive word, and in Indian society, it’s not used to ask anyone to go away and given the circumstances of the case it can’t be said that the petitioner-accused was merely asking the compliant to go away.

As per the court, the word is humiliating, offensive, abusive, and a sexually coloured remark.
