Do you need clearance from your RWA to employ your maid?

In Corona time, you have seen your RWA, regulating the entry of maids/drivers etc. In your house. Was it illegal ?

According to a proposal, pending before the government, RWA will have more powers not only to regulate the entry of such temporary employees but will also have say in their employability.

So, be ready to cooperate with your RWA on these matters.

Now, when you are hiring a maid, are you becoming part of female & Child trafficking racket ?

Recently a family who hired a maid was booked by police, despite police verification of maid.

Another family was booked for employing child labour.

Generally, the agency  supplying maids are not registered under Employment Agencies (Regulation) Bill, 2018 & other relevant acts of Delhi govt.

According to a media report out 2300 maids supplying agencies in Delhi, 90 per cent of it are illegal and are making Delhi a hotbed of human trafficking.

The govt plans to rope in RWAs in addition to police to stop this.

So stop and check not only the ancedents of maid but also that of agency  supplying the maid.

According to a survey done by Advocate Govind Tiwari of 4C SupremeLaw International, it was found that most of agencies are operating without necessary licenses and try to hoodwink the customers by showing non necessary papers or incomplete registration and claiming to be vetted and verified by Delhi police. Under, this act, the police has no power to vet or to give licence for supplying temporary manpower.

As per the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986, amended in 2016 ("CLPR Act"), a "Child" is defined as any person below the age of 14, and the CLPR Act prohibits employment of a Child in any employment including as a domestic help. It is a cognizable criminal offense to employ a Child for any work”.

It is also against the Civil Service Officers rules of conduct.
