Can All-India Tourist Permit Vehicles operate as stage carriage

According to a ruling by the Kerala High Court, stage carriages can not be utilised with All-India Tourist Permit Vehicles.

It further stated that if cars are discovered to be breaking the law, penalties may be applied.

The significant ruling was the result of a petition submitted by Kollam-based "Punchiri" bus owners against the Motor Vehicle Department's (MVD) enforcement of a fine.

It was previously suggested that vehicles with an All-India Tourist Permit might function as stage carriages under a rule.

In this context, bus owners had even gone to court.

The court decision prohibiting the impoundment of such buses has guided the conduct of services during the last few days.

The 'Punchiri' bus owners came before the court after receiving a fine from MVD officers.

The High Court is currently considering a challenge that KSRTC filed against the order.

The court additionally ordered that half of the fine be paid right away and that the remaining balance might be paid after the matter was resolved.

The court stated that the injunction will also apply to other buses in a comparable circumstance.

MVD representatives should now be able to intervene against permit infractions more successfully thanks to the court judgment.
