When the Kerala court handed out the death sentence, Greeshma killed Sharon inch by inch and sent a message that the lover could not be trusted.
As Greeshma was sentenced to death by the Additional Sessions Court of Neyyattinkara for killing her partner, Sharon Raj noted that the prisoner was beyond redemption since she "actively sought to prolong the victim's suffering, designed to cause extreme pain before death."
According to the evidence, Greeshma gave her partner a kashayam, an ayurvedic mixture laced with herbicide, and planned to kill him in order to break their amorous engagement. She allegedly turned to this because her marriage was arranged with someone else and the victim refused to end the relationship. While he endured excruciating pain and his organs failed one after the other, Sharon spent 11 days in the hospital. He informed his father before he passed away that he had visited Greeshma's home and been served a kashayam. Sharon passed away in the hospital on the eleventh day following the incident.
The deceased's brother also testified that Greeshma did not disclose to him what she provided to the deceased, despite having informed him that the accused was in the hospital.
The judge said, "Greeshma killed Sharon inch by inch."
Greeshma tried to end her life by swallowing Lysol in the police station restroom after being brought into custody. The Medical College received her. She provided the statement to the magistrate when she was in the hospital. Since the accused's admission of guilt constituted a final declaration, the magistrate did not document it. But the Sessions Judge took into consideration Greeshma's words to the Magistrate as a material fact, noting that she told the Magistrate that she had combined herbicide in the kashayam.
In a previous instance, Greeshma handed Sharon some juice, and after drinking it, Sharon puked. According to the evidence presented in court, Greeshma had looked up information regarding paracetamol overdose deaths online. According to the Court, there was also an attempt to kill the accused by putting paracetamol in the juice because it is the same method of operation as the current crime.
According to the court, she is not entitled to leniency because she had committed the same crime against her partner when they were in love, and only a cruel mentality could do so.
The murder, according to the court, has conveyed a message to society that a female can kill her boyfriend with ease after they have split up. The Court further stated that it caused friends and lovers to panic.
It conveyed the idea that a partner is unreliable. These days, young people are pursuing live-in partnerships. If taken softly, it is just as effective as throwing and using, and one can target his partner with ease. It will give society the wrong impression.
The accused's request for a lighter sentence in light of her age was likewise denied by the court. At the time of the occurrence, she was 24 years old. According to the court, the victim and the accused were of the same age.
Greeshma is also facing a death sentence, a difficult 10-year prison sentence for offenses under Section 364 of the IPC, a rigorous 5-year prison sentence for offenses under Section 328 of the IPC, and a 2-year prison sentence for offenses under Section 203 of the IPC.
