Last Word but not of least importance By Amern Sayani, My Eternal Mentor and Guide
Today, as I give the final touch to my latest book, Property Law Unveiled, and compile the forwards and comments from esteemed personalities, dear friends, and my vast network of supporters, I feel compelled to share a profound moment that will be part of this book. This is the last letter I received from my friend, philosopher, guide, and mentor, the legendary Ameen Sayani of Binaca Geet Mala fame.
Ameen Sayani was not just a voice that resonated across millions of Indian households; he was a humble soul whose wisdom and humility left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His words, sent to me in this letter, testify to his grace, humility, and boundless wisdom.
Letter Excerpt:
Date: January 15, 2020
From: Ameen Sayani
To: Ajay Kumar Saheb
"I was not just overjoyed but stunned to receive your letter containing your New Year greetings. I doubt if any other Indian has ever covered so many aspects of his life and work!"
"The letter also shook me into accepting you as my tutor in multi-directional expertise!"
"It has also inspired me to attach herewith (a) my 3-page bio-data and (b) an article entitled: 'PROBLEMS THAT ARE DRIVING INDIA TO MORAL, ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DESTRUCTION.' Please review the article and advise how to promote its concept to those who could act upon it."
As I read his words, I am overwhelmed by his humility. A man of his stature, who influenced generations with his voice and wisdom, referred to me as his "tutor." His openness to learning and seeking guidance, even at the pinnacle of his achievements, is truly a mark of his greatness.
The article he mentioned, "PROBLEMS THAT ARE DRIVING INDIA TO MORAL, ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DESTRUCTION," reflected his deep concern for our nation. His words in that piece were not a mere critique but a passionate call to action—a call that still resonates with me.
This letter is included in my book as a humble tribute to a mentor who lived by the principles of lifelong learning and inspiring change. Ameen Sayani’s legacy will continue to echo in the hearts of all who had the privilege of admiring him.
Rest in peace, my mentor and inspiration. Your voice may have left the airwaves, but it will forever resonate within us.
