Journalist Friends- It's high Time We must Speak
🗞️
Colleagues in the media,
Something deeply unfair is unfolding — and it's time we challenged it head-on.
The
Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has announced new memberships for its golf courses at Qutab and Dwarka. While government employees enjoy
heavily subsidized rates, the rest — including
journalists who serve democracy every single day — are expected to cough up exorbitant sums running into
lakhs of rupees.
⚠️ Why the disparity?
Are we not the
Fourth Pillar of Democracy?
Do we not work under
immense pressure, often without job security, fair pay, or institutional backing—just to keep the public informed and the powerful in check?
It is both
shocking and unacceptable that the very institutions we scrutinize and protect daily now choose to exclude us from public access benefits built on taxpayers’ money.
🧾 So here's what I've done:
I’ve formally written to the Chairman of the DDA, along with other top officials, demanding:
- Concessional golf course memberships for accredited journalists;
- A reserved quota for journalists under fair pricing structures;
- Transparency and constitutional fairness in all DDA public-access policies.

If you're part of a media union or association, forward this to your leadership and ask them to back the cause.
DM me if you want to co-sign the representation or take it forward collectively.
This isn’t just about golf.
It’s about dignity, fairness, and inclusion for a profession that holds the line every single day.
We deserve better — and we must demand it.
